Change Can Happen Faster Than You Think. Six Clients Show How.

By Reha Zamani

Most people believe real change takes years. Years of therapy, years of reflection, years of trying harder. So they stay stuck, because years feels like too much to start.

My clients keep proving that belief wrong. Some felt a shift in a single hour. Others found a direction they'd been searching for in a few months. Here's what happened for six of them, in their own words, and what their stories can teach you about how change works.

Why we think change is slow

Your brain runs on habit. It predicts what will happen based on what happened before, and it acts on those predictions automatically. An old belief like "I have to prove myself" or "I can't trust my own judgment" becomes a well-worn path, and your brain takes it without asking you.

Most of us try to change by thinking harder about the problem. We analyze it, talk about it, understand it. Understanding helps, but it rarely reaches the part of you that reacts. That's why change feels slow. The real shift happens when your brain gets a new experience in the same moment the old pattern shows up. When that happens, change can be fast.

Heather: one session, a new story

Heather is a physician and a scientist. She came to me carrying a deep professional wound from a previous academic job.

"Reha helped me create a new relationship with myself. In one session! Who does that? How is that possible? As a scientist, I wouldn't have said it was possible, but even as time has passed since our session I still feel the difference in my psyche." — Heather J., MD

What stands out to me is what we didn't do. We didn't pick apart every relationship in that complicated story. Heather describes it as building a new relationship with herself instead. Once that changed, the old story lost its hold. She says she now holds a different story about herself, not only from that job, but for her life in general.

The lesson: you don't have to resolve every piece of the past to be free of it. You have to change how you relate to it.

Mallory and Andrea: a new perspective in an hour

Mallory is a healthcare executive. Andrea is a tech executive. Both came in stuck on something specific.

"In just one hour, I felt a HUGE shift in my mindset. I was surprised how I was able to shift perspectives so quickly!" — Mallory A., Healthcare Executive
"She was able to help me understand the different mindsets that I have and to choose the mindset that was the most positive mindset for me. I went into the session battling a specific situation I'm working through and I left the session feeling more clarity about the situation." — Andrea H., Tech Executive

Andrea's words get at something important. You have more than one mindset available to you. Stress narrows your view until one feels like the only option. When you can see the others and choose, the situation itself looks different, even though nothing outside you changed.

The lesson: a stuck situation is often a stuck perspective. Change the view and new options appear.

Jocelyn: from paralyzed to a plan

Jocelyn came to me at a turning point. She had too many choices and no clear place to focus.

"I was paralyzed by many different choices and didn't know where to focus. Reha has a gifted ability to make you reflect and find the right answers within yourself. Within a few months I had a plan and found a new direction." — Jocelyn F., Tech Executive

Notice where the answers came from. Jocelyn found them within herself. My job was to ask the questions that helped her hear her own judgment over the noise.

The lesson: when you can't decide, the problem usually isn't missing information. It's that you've stopped trusting yourself. Rebuild that trust and the decision follows.

Julia and Tiffany: seeing yourself differently

Some of the biggest changes are in how you see yourself.

"She is a compassionate and skilled listener and guided me to a PROFOUND breakthrough. I got to see myself as a powerful, capable, and free woman!" — Julia C., Wellness Founder
"Working with Reha is like working with jet fuel. She keeps you in the pilot seat while skillfully navigating you into the realm of perceived limitation. She has transformed my potential to achieve whatever I want." — Tiffany W., Education Consultant

Tiffany's phrase "perceived limitation" says it well. Most of what holds capable people back is a limit they believe in, not one that exists. When your self-image updates, your behavior follows without being forced.

The lesson: change who you believe you are, and what you do changes with it.

What all six had in common

Three things show up in every one of these stories.

  1. They were willing to try something different. Heather, a scientist, didn't think it was possible. She tried anyway.
  2. The work went to the root. We worked on the belief or perspective driving the problem, not only the problem itself.
  3. The change lasted. Heather still feels it long after our session. Jocelyn walked away with a direction and a plan.

Start with one question

You can begin today. Pick the situation where you feel most stuck and ask yourself: what would I have to believe about myself for this to feel easy? Write the answer down. Then notice when the old belief shows up this week. Noticing is the first step to changing it.
